Professional Water Plant Operator

Employment Opportunity:

• Professional Water Plant Operator. The Village of Wellington is seeking a highly motivated Professional Water Plant Operator for the position of full-time Plant Operator at the Water Treatment Plant.
• This position will be responsible for performing work in the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant and associated equipment.
• Duties will include assisting all aspects of Water Treatment Plant and Distribution System operation and maintenance, including, but not limited to, the operation of motors, pumps, screens, electric stand-by generators, chemical feed and monitoring equipment, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, housekeeping, and any other ancillary equipment as needed.
• Will also be required to obtain OEPA Laboratory Wet Chemistry and Microbiology Lab Certifications following site specific training and perform other duties under the direction of the Chief Operator and Water Superintendent.
• While completing the probationary period, individuals will begin in-plant training as well as classroom instruction as directed by the Water Superintendent and must be able to complete the physical and educational demands of such a program, acquiring a State of Ohio Class 1 Water Supply Operator’s License within two years of employment.
• A working knowledge of all water distribution system components, including, but not limited to storage tanks, pipe, valves, fittings, repair equipment, and leak detection will also be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); 1 yr. of operator experience; Ohio Class I Water Supply Certification; valid Ohio Driver’s License. Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the education and/or experience required.
• Education and Experience may not be substituted for mandated licensure/certification.

Certification Requirements:

• Ohio Class I Water Supply Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ohio Class II or III Water Supply Certification.
