Electro Mechanical Technician/Operator

Description:

This position is designed to perform skilled electrical and mechanical maintenance work on equipment used to ensure the effective treatment of the municipalities’ water supply by troubleshooting and repairing various types of plant equipment, buildings, and property.Examples of Duties

1. Install, repair and overhaul pumps, motors and other equipment used in water treatment plant. Repairs existing piping and pipe-fitting, replaces bearings, mechanical seals, couplings, and other parts as needed.
2. Tests performance of electromechanical assemblies using test instruments.
3. Inspects, troubleshoots electrical controls, electronic equipment and performs necessary preventative maintenance and repairs, e.g. UV treatment equipment, inline meters, etc.
4. Performs preventive maintenance work on equipment, e.g., cleans filters, oils and lubricates parts, etc.
5. Be proficient in personal computer with applicable office software and Windows programs.
6. Maintains heating and cooling systems.
7. Maintains water booster stations including electrical systems and plant motor control centers.
8. Operates motorized equipment as necessary, e.g., fork truck, overhead crane, and other related equipment.
9. Utilizes computers for SCADA monitoring, data input, work order tracking and other uses of technology.
10. Follows all safety practices and procedures.
11. Utilize various software applications to document activities.
12. Operates Programmable Logic Controller’s for control systems.
13. Provides relief while performing duties as a Water Treatment Plant Operator as necessary.
14. Collects water samples (routine and emergency) for water quality analysis and microbiological testing, e.g. depressurizations, new lines, etc.
15. Other related duties as required.
